Interviews

Joe Streetz is the name and spitting heavy bars is his thing. Coming from the streets of Niagara Falls, NY. (The dirty waters), the east side to be exact. Here is where he learned to hustle or starve! Joe Streetz is focusing on keeping real hip hop alive, and to make sure the bars, the work it takes to create them, remain respected. He grew up doing music, his family is very talented with  a long line of musicians. Streetz’s father is amazing on the guitar. He grew up listening to a wide variety of music from Gospel, Rock, R&B, Blues and Hip Hop.

Streetz fell in love with Hip Hop as a kid. He loved it so much that it was hard for him to pay attention to his school work because rap was on his mind. Streetz worked hard at perfecting his  craft, structuring his music, taking time to find his place within himself and in the music business. He currently has 3 Albums out, The Illest Intentions, Hunger Pains, and his latest Get Rich or Die A King, all of which you can hear the growth in each album.

We caught up with Joe Streetz to talk more about his career and his new single off Get Rich or Die a King “Man Up”

Introduce yourself to our readers, let them know your name and where you’re from.

What’s up y’all my name is Joe Streetz better known as A-class I am from the eastside of Niagara Falls New York.

When did you know that music was actually going to be your career?

I knew music would become my career after the first time I stepped on a stage, the feeling I got from performing was something that I had never felt before, especially being shy around others, once I found a way to break that, the stage became my comfort zone. It’s addicting.

If you could get advice from any artist in the industry, who would it be and why?

If I could get advice from any artist in the industry it would be most likely be 50 cent simply because I admire his business mind and decisions he has made over the years that kept him elevating as well as his career musically it’s almost unmatched as a whole salute to 50

What or who influences your music?

I don’t like to use other artists as inspiration real life events and situations are the real push behind my music , but I do have artists I zone out to like Nas, Jadakiss, Dave East, Styles P, etc but my strongest inspiration comes from my environment

What’s the process of creating music for you?

Creating is fun. I like to find challenges and new things to do during the creative process. I might go sit on the bathroom floor and write two songs … Sometimes I sit at the kitchen table and write the catchiest hooks I can think of , it really just matters how I feel at the moment…Hell sometimes I write bars with no beat playing just the feeling from inside you know it’s all about the vibe you have at the moment I think

Has anyone helped you or guided you in getting your foot in the industry?

Ans: Along the way I’ve had plenty of help from my support system people I’ve been connected with such as Explicit, Gifted716, Casiem NY, 290 Jones, Ma home boy zig , my sister Shizay money, big KCARMA CEO nothing but love for those people. Most importantly my mom she always kept music in my ears as a kid her and my father honestly I was born with this gift I believe lol

Tell our readers what to look out for next from you?

Be on the lookout for the upcoming videos off the get rich or die a king project, I like to be different it’s always fun making videos because I try to think outside of what everyone is used too it’s gets creative and I think ppl will enjoy the videos as well as the music , I also have a joint project with Gifted716 in the works and other music as well

What differentiates you from other artists?

What makes me different from other artists is my versatility. I don’t stay in one realm of content. I make good music in general but it’s always bars no matter what song you listen ima talk to you on it, If I made music to be like everyone else what would be the point ya know lol. I like to be me and show my talent while I’m doin it at all times, I’m ready to rap even when I don’t feel like it. I’m at my best lol. It didn’t happen overnight either I worked hard to be different and consistent

What do you hope to get out of your involvement in the music industry?

Meet “Rocco Lupo” The Creator of the New Genre of Music Called “Funky Pop”

Interviews

Can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you got into music?

Well, I got into music by my dad playing these songs that are from the 70s, 80s, and 90s just when I was 3 years old, and from that point on I always loved music and especially the older songs!  but my biggest influence was always Teddy Riley and Michael Jackson.

How would you describe your sound and your musical influences?

I’d say my sound is “Funky Pop” but I have an old-school vibe like Smokey Robinson, Teddy Riley and Michael Jackson.

What can fans expect from your upcoming album?

They should expect to have fee-good sounds like back in the day. Funky pop has its own sound with a touch of new jack swing. I intend on giving everyone something new and funky they can vibe to.

Can you talk about your songwriting process and how you come up with your lyrics?

My song writing process really comes from the man above and just the beauty of earth creatures and the kids because when you look at the younger kids you see joy and happiness and just a pure soul that comes from God. When  I start singing, all of my friends love my music, it makes them happy and makes them want to dance.

What has been your favorite moment or performance in your music career so far?

Well I have not done many performances yet but I am working with some of the greatest people in the industry. It is all so surreal, just a dream come true.

What are your goals for the future of your music career?

My goal in the future is to be one of the best and to inspire people to follow their dreams.

Learn More about Greg

Where are you from?

I am from the Jersey Shore! Toms River NJ, there is no place like it!!

Why did you first start making music?

When I was young, like 7, my dad brought me to Atlantic City. I saw a dj cutting it up on turntables for the first time, so that Christmas I got turntables. Fell in love with djing. When I was in high school I used to dj “Teen Nights” basically night clubs would have nights where the party was for age 13-18. While djing the teen nights I realized I was pretty much just promoting other peoples music, so I wanted to make
my own. Thats what start my production, probably around age 18.

Talk me through your creative process.

I try not to have a process.. with music its really just about creating a vibe in the studio, or in your headphones and going with that vibe. Most of the time when you try to over think it, nothing good comes from it. So my creative process is pretty much creating a solid vibe in the studio.

Who would you say inspired you the most?

Scott Storch has always my idol. I grew up listening to his production! It was impossible not to, the guy dominated the producer world! As I got older I really dug deep into his story and how much of a work horse he was! Hes so inspiring. I have actually gotten the chance to link up with him a few times! Amazingly humble dude too!

Whats the best advice you received?

Nothing is handed to you, it doesnt happen over night, trust the process. Those are some of the notable pieces of advice I have gotten. Its all true its every man for themselves out here and it takes a LOT OF WORK and A LOT OF TIME!

How would you describe the music that you create?

Production placement wise, rap, all styles of rap. As far as my personal projects, anything that would go crazy in the club while djing. Dancehall, pop, rap. My main focus for my personal projects is to make a fun record I can play out.

What would you have done differently if you knew what you knew now?

I wouldve focused harder, not paid women any attention, kept my circle real tight and locked in on my goals. When i was younger I was too worried about being lit and hooking up and clout chasing… I am locked in now I just wish I was sooner.

Whats the most important show you have played to date?

Its a three way tie. The first time playing at Harrahs Pool Bar in Atlantic City was awesome because I used to dream about playing there when I was a teenager. The first time on the radio was obviously special. And the first time in LA. They are all special in their own way

If you could change anything about the industry what would it be?

TALENT OVER CLOUT! Stop making talentless viral weirdos be famous rappers!!!!

What do you want your legacy to be? How do you want to be remembered?

I want to be remembered as the man that can do it all! I am a family man, I want to be the kickass dad to my sons but also the dj who’s the life of the party and makes hit records!

De Banks Talks Music And More

Interviews

Please describe any unique characteristics of your company or its products and services that you feel would be newsworthy?

My rap style is a unique sound in the Atlanta melodic scene and drill scene. I really talk about real life scenarios that’s happening to me and those around me or what I see majority of my lyrics is not cap I feel like that’s what make me stand out more

Who is your target audience?

People that can relate that’s incarcerated or over came they form of struggle or currently going thru In other words I write a lot of pain music on uptempo beats

What separates you from your competition

I don’t cap in my rap. I really have been through it all.

What motivated you to build your own brand?

The love I had for music my whole life: 50 cent, Lil Baby, Chief Keef, all the R&B and early 2,000s and late 90s music. I also loved the YMCMB era.

Where do you see yourself/your company 5 years from now?

Still rapping, perfecting my craft and at a superstar level.

How would you want the readers to benefit from learning about you?

By paying attention to what I do and how I talk so they won’t make the same mistakes that I have made in the past. I’m from Queens NY, Springfield to be exact but I’m putting on for Allentown Pennsylvania.

Scorch The Competition

Interviews

We’re happy to be speaking today with a phenomenal underground music artist with
mainstream notoriety in Hip Hop “ Scorch”! Before we get started, how has 2023 been treating
you thus far?

2023 has been treating me excellent, so far so good. My new single Tan Caliente is steady rising in numbers on TikTok and we just reached 7.5 million views.

What was the role of music in the early years of your life?

Music acted as a positive outlet for me to express myself allowing me to connect to people on a higher level.

Who was your main musical inspiration?

Stephen Brown Senior, my father who was my musical inspiration. He was in a group called The Charts back in the day and had a hit song called Desiree.

What are your top 5 dream collaborations?

My top 5 dream collaborations I would have to say that my list would be significantly longer because there are so many artists I’ve been inspired by but I would have to say Jay Z, Kanye, Rihanna, Eminem, Lil Wayne.

Do you create music for yourself or for your fans?

I create music for my fans but I have created some intimate songs that were therapeutic for me as well so I would have to say both.

What is your best gig you’ve ever played?

I would have to say Glendale arena.

How do you energize your audience?

I’m an action junky so I’m jumping into the crowd. Dancing getting the fans to repeat the hook back to me literally moments after they hear it.

What formula do you follow when you are writing songs? Or is it not a formula, but a process
for you? Explain.

I listen to the beat, if you listen to the music the song will literally tell you what to write making the finished product organic and not forced.

What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music?

Getting my music out to a larger audience was a problem that has since been rectified.

What are your other interests besides music?

Acting, I’ve always wanted to star in a leading role in a movie.

What advice would you give to someone inspired to walk in your footsteps?

I would tell them hard work and dedication is a key component to reaching their musical goals. Also, don’t look for people that you know to support you. Don’t get me wrong any and all support is good but a stranger doesn’t have an attachment to you, so when they support they don’t expect that back ten fold and when they give criticism it’s raw because they are not invested in your feelings. You don’t need a bunch of yes men around you.

Meet The Gathings, one of Atlanta’s most powerful families

Industry Spotlight, Interviews

● Please let our audience know what it is that you do and what prompted you to enter this line of business?

The Gathings: We own Hempoholic, a black owned company that cultivates high grade, hemp based CBD and some THC products using proprietary inputs. We have experience in growing and producing organic & vegan hemp based formulations without harsh chemicals or animal products. Our mission is to improve the wellness and health literacy of our customers as well as aid other entrepreneurs in starting their own hemp based companies. Our journey into CBD started when Jason was living in constant pain due to old injuries he sustained during his collegiate football career. He did not want to take addictive pain medication but could not find a suitable alternative. CBD was recommended and he found instant relief and improvement in his overall well being! At the same time Ayo was working with patients as a psychiatrist that repeatedly told her that they didn’t trust the medications she was prescribing enough to take them. This serious distrust in “traditional” treatments left many, often in minority communities, in distress. They either had to suffer or live in fear. So, we decided to do something to address these gaps with a mission to provide awareness of natural ways to attain wellness. We created high-quality hemp based products that work and educate the masses to understand that CBD is an alternative that can be trusted.

● There are many misconceptions about what CDB is. Can you explain what it is and how it differs from THC? What are the health benefits that CBD may present?

The Gathings: CBD, short for cannabidiol,  is a naturally occurring compound from the flower of the cannabis plant. While CBD is closely related to marijuana, it does not contain delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is the active ingredient in marijuana that is psychoactive or produces a “high.”  The CBD allowable in the United States is taken from the hemp cannabis plant not the marijuana cannabis plant as the CBD from the hemp cannabis plant contains low levels of THC and does not cause intoxication. CBD does not act mainly on the body while THC acts on the nerve cells in the brain. CBD is a potent botanical shown to have numerous positive effects due to its action on the body’s already present endocannabinoid system. It is a proven anti-epileptic and has been approved by the Food and Drug administration for the
treatment of two seizure disorders. Research also shows promise in regards to aid in various anxiety disorders, sleep promotion and pain. Other exciting studies in the works are looking at proving CBDs may help reduce some cancer-related symptoms and side effects related to cancer treatment as well as protection of brain and heart health.

● What are some challenges that you’ve faced growing within a $6.36 billion market?

The Gathings: We faced almost every hurdle and roadblock purposefully created for smaller CBD companies. We had issues finding legal banking and merchant processing, building an FDA compliant website, and had to fight for our company name trademark. We even experienced an outright inability to market our company or products digitally with restrictions on running Ads, educating our customers effectively with appropriate terminology and a social media shadow-ban; but we did not let that deter us. Because of the history of a high risk designation of the CBD industry, there are challenges in operating in this area without large infusions or reserves of cash. It is becoming more accepted with legal advances, but it is still hard for small businesses to flourish in the area without self financing or personal borrowing due to restrictions on loans and start-up funding. Also, there were little to no resources or connections to even learn where to start in the CBD business. There is no real alliance or certifying body for the industry and of course no one currently in existence was offering to give a helping hand. Even now small businesses, budding entrepreneurs, and minority communities lack the fundamental knowledge of how to get into and succeed in the CBD space despite large companies taking advantage of knowledge grandfathered to them for years. But we still decided to jump straight in with no direction and learn as we went. We knew the world and particularly our culture needed us to persist not for our financial gain but to bring these products and business knowledge to the masses. That is why we decided to blow the lid off of this secretive industry and get more traditionally marginalized people in this area by developing the educational and developmental area of our business.

● There are many wellness practices with claims of great benefits, why should more people look into incorporating CBD into their regimen?

The Gathings: CBD is not just another fad, it is the real deal. As a psychiatrist and behavioral analyst, we know health and wellness; we have seen products or trends come and go; but CBD isn’t going anywhere. The FDA has already acknowledged its effectiveness for seizures and the research is there for many other areas. From mental health, immunity, digestion,, skincare and more CBD is showing that it can improve various body systems and overall health in so many ways. There are endless options to start incorporating CBD into your everyday routine! Whether it be a facial cleanser, a pain relieving topical or a mood uplifting gummy you can start reaping some of these amazing benefits now.

● As an industry expert, what are five tips on how someone can get into the CBD industry?

The Gathings: It may seem overwhelming when trying to get into the CBD business, but there are some essential things to know before you jump in like we did!
1. YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH You have probably already decided that you want to get involved in the CBD movement and have great ideas for your business. But now, it is time to contrast your idea with some reality. It seems like CBD is readily available and accessible, but there are many nuisances to this industry due to the highly regulatory nature that make it different from starting a different type of business. So before you even come up with the name, location or entity for your business please do your due diligence by reading up on the things that you need to do differently even from day 1.
2. DECIDE WHAT TYPE OF CBD BUSINESS YOU WANT TO ESTABLISH There are so many ways to be involved in the CBD area from owning a farm like we did to manufacturing, retail stores or even podcasting! There opportunities are endless, but you have to sit down and decide where your wallet, passion and knowledge base will best serve.
3. DESIGN A SOLID AND COMPREHENSIVE CBD FOCUSED BUSINESS PLAN A CBD business plan is not just throwing ideas out there and doing a quick Google search. Take your time and develop a plan specifically for the area of the industry you have chosen and look at the specifics of start up costs, partnership needs, legal updates and eventually marketing and advertising needs. Continue to include funding and financing sources as you want to be in it for the long haul and may need to secure non traditional funding due to legal restrictions.
4. LEGITIMIZE YOUR CBD BUSINESS Once you have done your research and business plan, it is time to make your business official. If you are not well versed in laws and tax details of entity formation, consult someone who can help you determine what your business formation should look like.
5. FIND A HEMP FRIENDLY BANK AND MERCHANT PROCESSOR The luxuries we generally have regarding comparisons of fees, services, and amenities in order to make decisions surrounding banking relationships are not necessarily possible. With the climate of the country being 1 foot in and the other all the way out of hemp−based CBD businesses, legislation and culture; banking may just have to be the best of the slim pickings for now. You will hear from someone even internally at the big banks that are open to a CBD business account, but learn from our two closed accounts and go running straight to a credit union or local bank that is committed to serving the hemp community. Similar story with your merchant processing company. There will be higher costs and fees, however you will have ongoing access to your funds without them being held without your knowledge! You will also be compliant with the legislative details that arise in the industry.

● For anyone just learning about the great work that you are doing within natural medicine, what is one thing that you like to leave them with regarding you and your journey?

The Gathings: We are a movement in business and health with a mission of meeting the needs of their customers, other entrepreneurs and the culture. The goal of Hempoholic is to bring hemp based products to the mainstream, provide alternatives to pharmaceuticals, and aid other minorities in getting into the industry that often excludes us. We feel our success lies with staying true to our mental health and wellness roots in guiding our endeavors as well as prioritizing God and family above all else.

Getting to know Jadi Torres

Interviews

Introducing Jadi Torres

We’re happy to be speaking today with a phenomenal Latin American singer Jadi Torres!
Before we get started, how has 2022 been treating you thus far?
2022 has been nothing short of amazing. I have been able to jump head first into many projects that were only a dream in conversation a few months prior, so needless to say, I am loving 2022!!!

Tell us the story behind your brand name came to be?
I was born in Dominican Republic so there’s always a shortened version of the full name, I was nicknamed Yadi with a “Y” since I was a baby, but in America people pronounced it (Yahdee) for us the “Y” has a j sound. So I simplified it as a total artist boss move lol, to Jadi with a “J”.

How did you learn to sing / write/ to play?
I grew up around music, choirs, talented musicians that were self taught. Music grabbed me very early on in my life and I fell in love with it. Writing poetry, developing them into songs. It was easy to want to learn to play instruments and sing because I was always around it. I realized I had a talent and I work everyday to perfect it.

What was the 1st concert that you ever went to and who did you see perform?
I was young, I went to see a live band in concert ill never forget the feeling even though they weren’t a largely known band. I knew that’s something I saw myself doing.

If you could have a musician tag along with you on tour, who would it be?
Wow! I would want someone like Alicia, or HER for sure! Let’s create music at any time on tour. We’d probably have 3 albums by the time we’re done.

Do you prefer to listen to music more or create?
Create for sure, I can honestly say I can go a few days without listening to music but in my head I’m always creating.

Being Bilingual do you think you have more Latin fans than American fans?
I know my Latin America fan base is pretty big so I would like to say maybe lol, however within the last few records I’ve made I’ve tapped into more of my English side and it’s gotten a pretty big response from the American fans, but Latinos are definitely on the higher end, for now.

Have you experienced stress on stage before? If so, what do you do about it?
Not really, I don’t normally stress out. I always get sudden butterflies in my stomach feeling, but that goes away the moment I step on stage.

As a female artist, if you could change one thing in the music industry. What would it be?
I feel there may be, more now in this culture than before, a high demand for “sexy” to be a part of being a female artist. For me that’s a box I would like to see broken, you don’t have to be half naked to attract the Audience’s attention.

If you didn’t pursue a music career, what would you be doing?
I love being able to make a difference in anything that I do, I remember for the longest time I wanted to be a doctor, a surgeon or something like that. Maybe I would’ve pursued medicine.

What can your fans look forward to seeing next from the phenomenal artist Jadi Torres?
They’re going to get the best music they have ever heard from me! I’m going to continue to inspire every dreamer with my life and accomplishments so I hope they don’t get tired, I’m here for the long run. There’s a lot of acting in the works, so they’ll be seeing my face on the big screen. I’m excited for that experience.
